Bionic Burger - Haysville, Wichita

Bionic BurgerAs a child, I still remember traveling with my family to Tulsa, Oklahoma hungry, but not about to settle for anything less than one of Aunt Ruby's burgers and fries. My brother and I often wondered why no one in Kansas made a burger or fry quite like that. Finally, in 1976, we decided to find out. We talked to our Aunt Ruby about bringing this production to Kansas. She was quite helpful in explaining some of her secrets. She said "You can get a regular burger and fry anywhere, so why not do it right." So we decided to sell a burger that's more like a steakburger than a hamburger.

We start with 100% Fresh US Beef, never frozen, which includes trim from T-Bone, strip steak and sirloin. Then we quick sear each pattie with grilled onions to lock in the real steak flavor and serve it on a toasted bun. We’re also famous for our fresh-cut liberal order of fries with a little bit of peeling left on just for the health of it!

For more than 60 years, we have been providing the same dedication to quality and service that Aunt Ruby began in 1949.

At Bionic Burger every order is made-to-order using only the finest ingredients, plus you’ll receive real old fashion food in just minutes.

Since Steve and Loyd Majors opened the first Bionic Burger in Wichita, our place has always been more than just a place to eat. The absolute dedication to quality that Aunt Ruby began with and built a reputation for is as true in the new millennium as it was the 1940’s. In Wichita, we continue our commitment to making and serving something better.

Steve, Pam, daughter Raquel and son-in-law Jimmy still operate the business. We would all like to thank Ruby and Roger for all their help in getting us started, and would like to dedicate our success to Steve's brother Loyd, who died far too young in a tragic accident in 1999. Without him they never could have made it. Rest in peace “Big Brother” Loyd Majors, 1942-1999.

Braum's - Andover, Derby, Wichita

Braum'sBraum’s Ice Cream and Dairy Stores…just the name conjures up visions of scrumptious ice cream, giant hamburgers, dairy fresh milk, fresh baked goods, even meats, fruits and vegetables. So what’s the story behind Braum’s? Well, we can sum it up with two words “vertical integration”. Basically it means that we believe that if you want something done right…you do it yourself. A concept that Founders, Bill and Mary Braum and their children are proud of.

Dog-N-Shake - Wichita

Dog N ShakeSince 1948, Dog-N-Shake has been the home of the Original Toasted Bun and one of Wichita's most recognized burger shops.

The Dog-N-Shake Legacy...

Once upon a time in 1948, in the small but growing city of Wichita Ks, while on the way home from church, Mrs. Adamson remarked to Mr. Adamson how much she'd like to have a hamburger.

"As much as you like hamburgers," he told her, I ought to start a hamburger place."

"Are you serious," Mrs. Adamson asked

Mr. Adamson thought a moment and then answered: "Yes, I believe I am."

Two weeks later the Adamson's were in the hamburger business. They named their first place Neal's Burger Bar.

In 1956 they opened a second location and called it Neal's Burger Bar #2. Two years later the Adamson's purchased a Sizzlin Dog and in 1962 changed the name of the restaurant to Dog-N-Shake thus founding the franchise name and a cheeseburger institution Wichitans have grown to love.

In 1963 another Dog-N-Shake restaurant was added followed by another restaurant the following year.

Today, Neal's two daughters and granddaughter are keeping the Dog-N-Shake traditions alive and well. Dog-N-Shake restaurants are located throughout the city of Wichita, KS.

DQ Grill &Chill - Andover, Augusta, Derby, Maize, Wichita

DQThe founders of the Dairy Queen® system were men and women who introduced a new kind of dessert treat and, in the process, developed the foundation of the franchising industry. The history of the DQ® system is a story of a unique product that created an industry.

A Story of Sweet Success

For more than 70 years, the DQ® system's recipe for success has been simple. It's been a combination of hardworking people who own and operate restaurants, and great-tasting food and tempting treats served in our establishments.

Our phenomenal story began with the 10-cent sale of a then unnamed product on August 4, 1938, in Kankakee, Illinois. A father and son partnership in Green River, Illinois, had been experimenting with a soft frozen dairy product for some time. They contacted Sherb Noble, a good friend and customer, who agreed to run the "all you can eat" trial sale at his walk-in ice cream store. Within two hours, he dished out more than 1,600 servings of the new dessert.

Back then, food franchising was all but unheard of, but the new product's potential made it a natural for such a system. When the United States entered World War II in December 1941, there were fewer than 10 Dairy Queen® stores. However, shortly after the war, the system took off at a pace virtually unrivaled before or since. With only 100 stores in 1947, it grew to 1,446 in 1950 and then to 2,600 in 1955. Today, the DQ® system is one of the largest fast food systems in the world, with more than 6,000 restaurants in the United States, Canada and 18 other countries.

Although much has changed in the world and in the DQ® system through the years, one constant has remained: DQ® restaurants are still, and always have been, the place to find kids' sports teams celebrating a victory, business people on their lunch break and families taking time out to enjoy great food and soft serve treats. And success for the DQ® system is as simple today as it was in 1940. Satisfied customers lead to successful restaurants. Each owner of our independently owned and operated establishments worldwide is committed to nothing less than the "Fan Food not Fast FoodTM" slogan.
